Historical Commercial and Domestic Window Restoration

Since the company's inception, Draftseal has led the development of new concepts in window sealing and restoration - introducing techniques and systems designed specifically for Scotland's architecture and climate.
The company was first formed in 1989 to meet the growing demand for repairing and draughtproofing steel frame windows, a common feature of building design in the 1950's and 60's.
Later, over many months and through many design stages Draftseal developed then patented its unique ENCAP sealing system. It was created to overcome the technical difficulties of draughproofing traditional timber sliding sash windows - an important element of Scottish architecture. As a result, and in contrast to most surface mounted systems, ENCAP virtually eliminates paint contamination on its seals. ENCAP is also an 'invisible' system, essential for buildings given a listing from conservation authorities.

Over the years we have assembled a team of joiners and fitters with the all the skills necessary for major conservation and restoration projects. In their hands, the woodworking machinery in our workshop facility can faithfully reproduce intricate moulding details to match any window's original profile in either hardwoods or softwoods. The techniques we use today are those handed down through generations of master craftsmen.
Drafseal have close links with many architectural practices and conservation bodies specialising in restoration work.
We know, through years of experience, the value of repeat contracts. That's why our company philosophy is to ensure our customers experience service of only the highest quality and reliability. For us, it's a tradition.
